(1)班级授课制的主要优点包括：
①有利于经济有效地、大面积地培养人才。由于它按学生的年龄和知识水平编成有固定人数的教学班，班级是教学工作的基本单位，教师根据教学计划中统一规定的课程内容和教学时数、按课程表同时对全班进行集体授课，因而能使大量的学生同时在较短时间内有系统地掌握知识技能。同个别教学相比，班级授课制扩大了教学规模，加快了教学速度，提高了教学效率。
②有利于发挥教师的主导作用。在教学中，教师按照教学大纲和教科书的规定，有目的、有计划、有组织地进行教学，保证全班学生自始至终在教师的指导下学习。
③有利于发挥班集体的教学作用。同班学生学习内容相同，程度相近，便于相互切磋讨论，互帮互助，共同提高。同时，也有助于形成良好的班级风气、积极的集体舆论，从而有利于培养学生遵守纪律、关心他人、关心集体的思想品德。另外，各科教师轮流上课，他们在业务、思想、风格等方面各有特点，学生可以从中受到多方面的教育。
(2)班级授课制也有它的缺点，主要表现在强调系统的书本知识的学习，容易产生理论与实际脱节；强调教学过程的标准、同步、统一，难以完全适应学生的个别差异，不利于因材施教。
(3)针对班级授课制的缺点，我们在课堂教学中可以通过分组法，主要是内部分组的方法来弥补其不足。内部分组是指在传统的按年龄编班的班级内，按学生的能力或学习成绩等编组，也叫班内分组。我们既可以按不同学习内容、不同学习目标进行分组，也可以对相同学习内容和学习目标采用不同的方法和手段进行分组，加强教学的针对性。
