作业是结合教学内容，要求学生独立完成的各种类型练习。教师布置作业时，应遵守下列要求：
(1)作业的内容要符合教学大纲和教科书的要求，并要有代表性，要有助于学生巩固与加深理解所学的基础知识，形成相应的技能、技巧，培养学生的能力。
(2)作业分量要适当，难易要适度。学校应通过班主任来调节学生各科作业的总量，防止学生负担过重。凡能在课内完成的作业，就不应当布置到课外去做。
(3)布置作业要向学生提出明确的要求，并规定完成的时间。对比较复杂的作业，教师也可以适当地提示，但这种提示应是启发性的，不能代替学生的独立思考。
(4)教师应经常检查和批改学生的作业。检查的目的是了解学生对所学知识理解巩固的程度和实际运用知识的能力，以便发现教和学两个方面存在的问题，及时改进教学。
